Traffic Building Tips for Newbies
Looking for ways to get more exposure and traffic to your website for free? Below is a list of free ways to gain more visitor traffic to your web page for free.
Basic Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Title tag – Perhaps the most important of all your SEO Tools is the placement your target keywords in the title of your niche site. For example, if you have a Mortgage Information website with a page featuring a video titled “How to Find the Best Home Lenders, your title should read “How to Find the Best Home Lender- Video – Lendergroup.net”
This is not only good for search engine optimization, but for the user as well. A user looking for home loan information on how to find the best home lender is more likely to click on a title with “How to Find the Best Home Lender,” rather than a title like “Lendergroup.net”
Header tags (H1, H2, H3) – Have all your titles in your webpage within header tags. Search engines give “extra points” to keywords within header tags.
Add ALT tags with a description of the image to your images and TITLE tags to your anchors (A tags.) i.e. Home Lenders
Back-linking (trading links with other like websites) – The more links on other web pages to your website, the more visitors to your website you will earn. E-mail site owners with similar content to your own. For example, a website owner that owns a mortgage information site should contact website owners that own similar websites such as: Mortgage Forums and Real Estate websites to trade links with. The higher the page rank a website has, the “more link juice” your website receives and the more visitors to your website. Please note that having too many outbound links on your website is not a good idea, as it can hurt your page rank, rather than improve it.
Add your website link to any forum posts, blogs, or articles you write on the web. People will check out your link. Read my post on Forum Etiquette. Beware of spamming. No one likes spam and you can lose website visitors, instead of gaining more as you have expected.
Site visitors love how to tips. Write articles that can give tips to someone, rather than advertising your service or product, such as this article. People look for information they can use, rather than just an advertisement. Use interior links to other pages on your website to help reduce your bounce rate.
Add your website links at the bottom of the article, and write a brief description on ways these websites will help the user with the information he or she was seeking. Submit your articles to article websites, such as this one site or like sites such as: ezinearticles.com and hubpages so others can find your money site at search engines using keyword terms like “home loans” or “free mortgage information.” Writing a good article can bring many visitors to your website for free.
Allow users to download a free ebook on “how to get the best mortgage rate”, or “How to Clear Up Your Credit”, by submitting their Email Address and Username so you can contact them at a later date with updated information and offers.
Have a site map on your site. This is good for search engines to crawl through your entire site and index each page, and also good if anyone were to get lost on your page and would like to get to a particular page at your Site.
Make sure to update the content on your website as frequently as possible (once a week is good.) It’s not only good for search engines, but for people who enjoy the content on your website to keep them coming back for more.
Add META descriptions and keywords on each page. It’s good to have different descriptions and keywords on each page. For example, if I own a Mortgage Related website, instead of putting a description of the entire site on each page. I would place a distinct page description and keywords for my “How to Get the Best Interest Rate” page.
Write press releases and look for free press release distribution services. If you have some money, try prweb.com and ereleases.com
Social media – Create social media pages on Facebook, twitter, and HubPages and update regularly. Add the social media widgets to your website so people can like and follow you with updates. As more and more people follow and like your website, the users’ friends will also see which websites their friends like and follow. A good viral tool. You can get free followers and page likes at sites such as twiends.com and others you can find on search engines.
Videos – Become a video producer and record a short videos (about 1 minute in length) in reflecting your website content and what is has to offer and upload it to as many video sharing sites on the web such as YouTube.
Offline advertising – Print out a few ads of your website or business cards and leave them anywhere you possibly can. Utilize drop cards and drop them on a major sidewalk for others to pickup. Do this at your own risk as you could get a ticket for littering.
Add sharing widgets to your website such as the share this widget (sharethis.com). Visitors may share your pages with friends, or develop your own widget that other users can implement on their site. This is a great method for developing a ton of traffic and back links to your website.
Write a blog (or more) and write about websites similar to yours. Website owners like this, and may return the favor.
It’s important to have patience, but at the same time not be idle, and do as much research and SEO tactics in the meantime.
